Departmental Mandate.

Ensure a sustainable road network to support the development of Rural Infrastructure, Market Information, Social Service Delivery,

and Standards of living in the Karenga district.

Karenga district local government has total road length of 310.9kms of district roads, 179kms of urban roads and 385kms of community access roads which are in fair to poor condition due to lack of equipment to carry out maintenance works. The district does not have tarmacked roads.

The district has not yet received road equipment from the ministry of work to carry out road maintenance. It therefore majorly depends on borrowing of equipment’s from neighboring districts.
